Separate the den into several groups of two to three boys. The adult leader gives each
group one or two dollars and an assignment such as finding an appetizer, dessert, drink, salad,
main dish etc. Each group then goes around the grocery store and picks up whatever they can
find for that money to make a meal for the whole den. This activity not only teaches them how
to shop for inexpensive food, it also makes them think about budgets and how to get by with a
set amount of money. Once the shopping is done let them cook the food and enjoy their success.
Another thing you could do is to give the dinner or food to someone in the area that needs a little
bit of help. Be sure to have enough supervision for each group.
