Greetings Scouters I am seeking your input. As I am sure you realize it takes a lot of time and resources to keep InsaneScouter going. Don't worry, I'm not asking for money. Instead, I am seeking your advice.
ÂIn the past, I have tried seeking out volunteers to help with the various tasks. But have had little luck. Over the last year, I have been experimenting with outsourcing those tasks. This has been reasonably successful but comes with a cost. The sponsor revenue does not come close to covering those costs. I have had lackluster results seeking donations.
ÂWe also have many things we want to do moving forward. For example, we are working on a new "Scouter's Campfire" video podcast. Plus, we want to launch a themed newsletter full of ideas and resources for all Scouting levels based around that theme.
ÂDo you have any suggestions of ways we can generate more revenue to keep the lights on & continue moving forward?

From 2009 to 2018, the state of Michigan reported seven total human cases of Eastern equine encephalitis, a mosquito-borne virus that can cause brain infections. However, this year, Michigan has already reported seven cases, including three that were fatal. Infections have also been reported in Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The uptick in this rare disease is a reminder to protect you and your Scouts from mosquitoes, especially during dawn and dusk when the insects are most active. Although Eastern equine encephalitis (or EEE) primarily affects eastern and Gulf Coast states, mosquitoes in other parts of ......

You could overload them with information, plunking a packet in front ......
It started, as great ideas sometimes do, as a joke. Back in March, Chris Mahn was sitting at a troop committee meeting with fellow volunteers from Troop 26 of Wilmington, N.C., part of the BSA’s Cape Fear Council. The leaders started to discuss the troop’s epic summer calendar, where two separate groups of Troop 26 Scouts planned to take treks at two of the BSA’s four national high-adventure bases. The first group would hike through the rugged Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. As that trip was ending, the second group would begin a canoe trek at Northern Tier, the pristine ......

Before there was Google Maps, there was the compass. Podcast Topics Ken and Colin briefly revisit the topic of bear bags, discussing an article which argues that bagging is not actually a very effective means of dissuading bears from getting at your food. From there, they move on to discuss orienteering: what it is, how to do it, and why it’s still an important skill for Scouts to learn. Oh, and here’s a great reference page for how to take a bearing. Shout-Outs As always, a big thank you to the folks at Scouting Radio for rebroadcasting Scouting Stuff episodes ......

You guys helped me out last year when I was a new, nervous Tiger Den leader. This year I'm a new, even more nervous Wolf Den Leader. See, I got used to my den that was only about 4 or 5 scouts (depending on the day). At the end of the year, I felt relatively less uncomfortable (I'm not great leading a group, and I'm not great with kids) but it was OK because I had a decent group. This year I've found out my den has more that doubled in size with new recruits. Does anyone ......
