Greetings, InsaneScouter’s, this week, we would like your help in adding new and excellent content.

Do you know of an excellent Summer Camp that we should blog about? Please tell us about it at https://forms.gle/1fkGsmaurneSaJFt5.

Happen to know of any great Discounts for Scouts? Maybe a camping supply store, Wal-Mart, or even a beautiful campground? Tell us about it at https://forms.gle/sr4E49Rbwed2WDfr8.

Did you know we offer a congratulatory letter to Eagle Scouts? We customize it for every scout! All you have to do is contact us with the scout's name, details about their project & challenges he overcame, plus any other information you think would be useful. You can either use the contact form https://insanescouter.org/contact_us.php or email us at scottr@insanescouter.org

We have been helping Scouters just like you, for over 22 years. As of late I have been feeling really overwhelmed and stressed out because of everything that needs to get done on InsaneScouter. I estimate to give my team the kind of hours I am envisioning, I would need to raise approximately $1,500 a month. I can not swing that out of my own pocket, though I have been investing $500+ a month into the site. You can help by becoming a Patreon at https://patreon.com/insanescouter (it’s secure and safe) or PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=8WVWKK67YTLEL! I appreciate any help you can provide!

Thank You for your service to Scouting & for taking your time to look at our newsletters! Please let us know how we are doing and if there are any ways we can better help you.

They’ve camped on the D-Day beaches of Normandy, snowshoed across the Swiss Alps and hiked up volcanoes in Japan — all without a single transatlantic or transpacific flight. For BSA families living outside of the United States, the Scouting adventures continue uninterrupted as members of the Transatlantic Council, Far East Council or Direct Service district of the National Capital Area Council. It’s a good reminder to any Scouting families who choose to relocate to another country, either permanently or temporarily: Your Scouting adventures don’t have to end when you leave. These overseas BSA families might include armed forces personnel, diplomats, expats and ......

Every year, Cub Scout Adventures are reviewed to identify trends and determine interests of our youth, den leaders and Cub Scout families. In our ongoing efforts to keep the Cub Scouting Adventure program relevant to today’s families, Cub Scout elective Adventures are reviewed for both content and popularity. The most recent review has identified 19 elective Adventures that do not meet the standards of youth and den leader engagement, with the lowermost being earned by less than 3% of eligible youth. They will be retired effective May 31, 2022. The retiring of these adventures allows Cub Scouting to be more ......

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a six-day, council-offered course that teaches Scouts, Venturers and Sea Scouts what they must know and do to be effective leaders in their units. Youth, ages 13-20, benefit from the exciting program; it integrates modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of Scouting. This isn’t a classroom training. Scouts experience hands-on activities, games, challenges, presentations and discussions. It’s a combination of work and play that resonates with youth. Though the training, which launched in 2005, was due for an update. What will be new and why? In 2019, a team of volunteer Scouters, all ......

If your Bear Cub Scout earned the World of Sound elective adventure, he or she was one of the few who did. Nineteen elective adventures (listed below) have been some of the least popular with some being earned by fewer than 3% of Cub Scouts. Elective adventures are reviewed for content and popularity. These 19 were the least popular based on sales and advancement data. They will be archived in Scoutbook and Internet Advancement, removing the ability to mark them as completed after the retirement date of May 31, 2022. Cub Scouts can still earn these electives through next May. ......

The Scouts BSA Handbook isn’t just for young people enjoying confidence-boosting experiences along the Scouting trail. Like a Pixar movie with jokes meant for those of us born before the 21st century, the Handbook contains plenty of useful features that adults will appreciate. You just have to know where to look. Today we’re sharing 15 hidden gems we found in the Scouts BSA Handbook. While these sections, charts and guides were written for Scouts, they contain information or insight that will help Scouters become better parents, spouses and volunteers. Have you read all 488 pages of the Scouts BSA Handbook? ......

He was unarmed, and his lack of a beard should’ve been an instant giveaway that he was too young to be a threat. But when James Gillies was caught by British troops on a February day during the Revolutionary War, he was shown no mercy. A band of British soldiers killed Gillies with swords on Feb. 12, 1781, near the present-day town of Summerfield, N.C. He was just 14 years old. Gillies, who served as the bugler for Henry Lee III, an officer better known by the nickname “Light-Horse Harry, ” was one of the youngest patriots to die in ......

I buy Scouting memorabilia collections from people all over and recycle them back into the hands of Scouts and Scouters. This collection was unique as it came from the family of a gentleman who had been a professional Scouter in multiple councils. The bulk of his stuff was from Utah where his daughter now lives. But he also had stops in Kentucky earlier in his career. There were some really neat camp belt buckles in this collection including several that were low run staff issues. I've never been out to Utah but I ......
