Hey you, yes you! I know it's another week and another newsletter, but come on, join me in a silly group cheer. Come on. You know you want to, don’t give me that look. No, you didn’t just sigh at me, did you!?

Come on now, hold your hands apart as if you're holding two ends of a rope. Now tie a knot in it. Hold it up for everyone to see and ask, “what is this?” Everyone yells, “NOT!”.

Ok, I know it's lame, sad face you didn't like it…

Well, anyway, maybe you will still take a moment to help us out by answering a few questions at  https://forms.gle/qpJhVofpHdjxHYEK9, it will only take a few minutes. Honest, Scouts Honor.

Fire image by Mike Walton (This was written in 2002 before my unit, and I was deployed to Kuwait and later to Iraq as part of the U.S. Central Command. Lego Scouter and Sweetie by Mike Walton (Throughout this entry, I refer to the small plastic building pieces trademarked and called "Lego®."  I don't place the registered trademark symbol anytime except now, but the word and the pieces themselves are registered to the Lego Corporation, with no attempt to infringe on their trademark.) I love Lego.  If you ever want to give me a present for any occasion (my birthday is next week, for instance), there are four things which will make me absolutely happy: Money (who would not appreciate it, right?)Coffee (any flavor, roasted, whole bean, ground or instant)Chocolate (well, I am not supposed to ......

A lifelong Girl Scout, former troop leader, and top cookie seller, Judith made history last month when she was announced as the first Black woman to assume the chief executive role. Judith is a true trailblazer—she spent three decades as senior counsel and executive to a Fortune 100 company, the first woman and first Black person to serve as general counsel to one of the corporation’s overseas affiliates. Judith is the daughter of a Girl Scout and troop leader, and she credits Girl Scouts with sparking her curiosity about the world around her and giving her the ......

Reading can be the ultimate way to escape. Or connect. This summer, a Star Scout from New Jersey pioneered a way for older students at his school to read to younger students through Zoom. John Facchini calls it the Summer Reading Pal Program. He paired 35 older students (seventh or eighth graders) with 35 younger students (first or second graders). Each pair attends John’s school: St. Francis Academy, a Catholic school in Union City, N.J. The weekly meetings last 30 minutes. After an opening prayer, each pair reads a book together, draws or plays charades, and simply talks about their ......

On a television set with celebrities like Josh Duhamel, Rob Riggle, and Jon Lovitz, how can an information technology professional get noticed? He just has to put on a Scout uniform. Gerritt Beatty, a volunteer and Scouting dad from the BSA’s Ventura County Council in California, competed on an episode of ABC’s Holey Moley this summer. While producers eventually opted against having Beatty wear his Scout uniform on the show, the Troop 765 committee chairman did don it during his audition and when arriving on set for taping. When he showed up wearing his tan-and-green field uniform, Beatty was greeted with a ......

If you tuned in to the Order of the Arrow’s virtual Momentum Launch last month, you might’ve noticed an impressive work of art shown, titled Onward and Upward. Eagle Scout and National Order of the Arrow Subcommittee volunteer Joshua Hunt of Milwaukee, Wis., created the piece. It wasn’t the first time he’s displayed his Scouting-themed work. Hunt, who earned the Eagle Scout Award with Troop 1008 in Green Bay, Wis., has served as the artist-in-residence for the 2017 National Scout Jamboree and 2018 National Order of the Arrow Conference. The Kon Wapos Lodge member’s involvement with the OA’s history committee ......

I see there is a post on this topic but it has been some time to restarted it. Need some help here as a pack treasurer trying to figure out the dues structure for this year. We are located in a state which has not yet opened up so all the meetings for a while are likely to be virtual in accordance with the schools. In addition, the fee structure passed down to the packs from our council has increased by over $70 since last year. With our pack dues, the total for a new scout would be $220 ......
