Greetings & Welcome to another weekly newsletter. Did you know Scouts are always hungry, and many of them even enjoy cooking now and crazy things? Stop laughing at me!
Maybe they would like to try out this recipe for “Pizza on the Coals.”
heavy-duty aluminum foil & a spoon
One package pita bread
One small can of pizza or spaghetti sauce
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
pizza toppings to taste
Cut pita in half and spoon sauce into the pocket, spreading evenly. Add mozzarella cheese and toppings. Wrap in foil and place on coals. Cook 1.5 minutes on each side until warm and cheese is melted. MMMM is so good!

When I was a younger boy, one of the things I used to enjoy doing was going down into the #8 Woods and going rock hunting with my dad. He got me interested in looking for Indian arrowheads and also looking for fossils among the stones as we looked around the woods. There was a place at the edge of the woods that had been excavated a little bit, and the turned over soil was an excellent place to find stones of all types. The fossilized stones I saw got me thinking and wondering about dinosaurs and the creatures that ......
Image by Free-Photos from Pixabay I remember when I was a young boy, and the circus would come to town. Posters would start appearing all over town, and they would tell us about the circus that had come to town that was going to appear in the arena downtown. The circus would usually be there for three days…Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I would take a city bus on a Saturday afternoon and spend a few hours enjoying the time, being amazed by several of the circus acts and marveling that they could set all this up for a weekend and knowing ......
She calls them that so as to get a reaction from me - it never fails. She knows full well what they are and how they are worn; she used to be a Girl Scout. But then, Girl Scouts don't wear a NECKERCHIEF! Wikipedia defines a neckerchief in the following manner: "A neckerchief (necko, necker, kerchief or less commonly scarf ) is a type of neckwear associated with Scouts, cowboys, and sailors. It consists of a triangular piece of cloth or a rectangular piece folded into a triangle. The long edge is rolled towards the point, leaving a portion unrolled. The neckerchief is ......
Now would be an excellent time to read a book to your smallest kids, or have the young children who already know how to read, read it for themselves. This book has won a number of awards since it has been published. This is the story of a little baby Arctic Tern who, with the help of his parents, grows up learning how to take care of himself and fly. The cover shows a colorful artistic picture of what the baby Tern and one of his parents look like, but once you open the book you enter a full photo ......
(From "Prompt Me!" (c) 2014 Mike Walton)I was bored, hungry and in no mood to hear hungry children -- in any language. There were other things going on with me too, but we won't go down that trail, okay?Eating dinner by myself has always been something I have tried to avoid as much as possible. I love having a dinner companion, someone who shared some bit of interest in what I do, why I was there in their town, when I am going to leave, and how I got there. Most of the time, however, I end up eating alone. Not fun ......
Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be part of a medical trauma unit working in an emergency room? What about being an automation engineer at a cereal factory? What about getting to see firsthand what it's like to be a fireman who is going to respond to a blazing fire somewhere in your city? We thought it would be useful to you to provide a list of potential field trips that you could take your Scouts on. One of the Scout themes for a month is “When I Grow Up.” You could use this information ......

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have observed that it has become increasingly difficult for youth to connect with non-profit organizations to provide service, such as for an Eagle Project or to complete Religious Award requirements. Some youth have contacted multiple organizations, churches, non-profits, community centers, trying to find an individual to assist in coordinating an Eagle Scout service project, only to be frustrated in the process. The problem is that many organizations have closed, or no longer have office hours or the ability to respond to emails and phone calls or coordinate volunteers. In response to this very real need, ......
Meet Life Scout Adrian Allred of Ship 818, Alexandria, VA, National Capital Area Council and a priest in the Kingstowne Ward in the Mount Vernon Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is being interviewed by a WJLA television station for his amazing and thoughtful Eagle Scout service project. Adrian’s 48 Resource Care Kits were supplied to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s first responders to better help children with autism, anxiety, or language barriers in medical emergencies. But more than that, it was a way for him, a teen who is high functioning autistic, to ......
My name is Sam Gray. I want to share a little about my scouting experience as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and how my life has been blessed by Scouting even after the Church ceased chartering Scouting for its Young Men’s program. Like most Latter Day Saint boys, I started Scouting as a cub scout in Midway, Utah at age 8. I really enjoyed it and earned the maximum number of arrow points possible while advancing through my rank advancements finally achieving the rank of Webelos scout and receiving both my religious square knot ......

Six years ago, the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District in Wisconsin bought a 1967 Ford Mustang. It didn’t run; the windshield was smashed; the undercarriage was covered in rust — it was a major restoration project. But it would be a perfect project for high school students, teaching them mechanical and automotive skills. It could spark a hobby or prepare them for a career. The problem came in recruiting dedicated students willing to devote the time to the project. That’s how Explorer Post 1967 was formed. Exploring is a BSA program tailored toward teaching youth life and career skills, ......

With an increase in violence against women and girls around the world and the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns resulting in women and girls being confined at home with perpetrators and having to navigate spaces and places that have become even more unsafe, this 16 Days of Activism the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) presents an online panel of global women’s rights experts to address the issue of victim blaming.
