Hey you, yes you! I know it's another week and another newsletter but come on join me in a silly group cheer. Come on, you know you want to, don’t give me that look. No, you didn’t just sigh at me did you!?

Come on now hold your hands apart as if your holding two ends of a rope. Now tie a knot in it. Hold it up for everyone to see and ask “what is this?” Everyone yells “NOT!”.

Ok, I know it's lame, sad face you didn't like it…

Well anyway maybe you will still take a moment to help us out by answering a few questions at  https://forms.gle/qpJhVofpHdjxHYEK9, it will only take a few minutes. Honest, Scouts Honor.

Guest Blog Post by Girl Scout alum, Meredith Garofalo “On my honor, I will try, to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law.” These are words that decades after I learned them I still can recite and that I make a part of my life each and every day as a Girl Scout alum. Let me introduce myself—I’m a meteorologist on a national weather network, WeatherNation. It was a dream I had as a little girl and that I’m proud to say is now my career! I forecast ......

A dining fly is one of the first structures you should put up at camp. But what if you’re in an area away from trees, how do you secure one? For the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing some camp hacks that the BSA’s national camping subcommittee has shared with us. This week’s tip involves how to set up a dining fly. Special thanks to Larry Green for the tips and text below. In the Camping merit badge pamphlet, under the “Managing Your Campsite” section, it reads, “Set up a dining fly first. That will provide shelter for ......

While most American kids are busy deciding which Halloween costume to wear this year — Stranger Things or Star Wars? — the Scouts in the BSA’s Western Los Angeles County Council have flipped their calendars forward by two months. Yes, they’re already working on holiday cards. But there’s a good reason for this extra-early start to the holiday season. Every year, the council partners with the American Red Cross and Department of Veterans Affairs to send hand-signed holiday cards to men and women serving in the armed forces. “The cards and their personal messages provide a welcome touch of home ......

The years weren’t getting shorter, but Ginger Fearey’s children seemed to be growing up faster and faster. Thankfully, the adult volunteer from Grapevine, Texas, found one place where time seemed to slow down. Whenever she went hiking with her son and Troop 7 — in postcard-perfect places like Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming and beyond — she noticed that their relationship deepened and lasting memories formed. Screens went dark as real conversations shined through. “We discussed geology, astronomy, and the environment, along with Marvel comics, memes and political discourse, ” she says. “We went to bed with the disappearing sun, we studied stars ......

http://www.campbarstowsc.com The concept of teaching complimentary merit badges bundled together over 2 1/2 days is a whole new way of running program at a Scouts BSA camp. Some leaders questioned if this would work or what kind of experience their scouts would have. So at the end of their week at Barstow Scout leaders went on tape to share their feedback and explain why they thought it was so successful. The bundles are one reason why we say things are #BetterAtBarstow. In 2020 we have expanded the bundles program to include 24 different bundles covering 59 ......

I was introduced to Scouting when I was 8 years old back in 2006. I was a Wolf Scout at the time. In America, Scouting is divided into 2 groups, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts consist of Tiger (6-7 year olds), Wolf (7-8 year olds), Bear (8-9 year olds), and Weblos (9-11 year olds). Boy Scouts consists of boys aged from 12 to 18. I crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in the summer of 2010. I became an Eagle Scout (which is the highest Boy Scout rank in the US) in 2016. I’m still attending ......
