Welcome, InsaneScouter’s to another fantastic issue of The Weekly InsaneScouter. Just a quick reminder, it would really help us out if you would let your Scouting friends know about us and this newsletter. You could even forward this newsletter to them and suggest they subscribe, or maybe print it out and share it at your local roundtable. Like my dog, Jack would say, “that would be tail-wagging awesome!”.

This BSA camp was one that was recommended to us by our readers. Some of the pictures shown on this web page were also sent in from one of our viewers. Camp Laramie Peak is the 7th oldest Boy Scout Camp in America. Camp Laramie Peak is located on a working ranch. The scenery is amazing and you might get to drive through a herd of buffalo. In 2020, CLP is 100 years old. It has been through many disasters and has come out being a wonderful camp. Despite the age, the camp is up to date. From family-style dining ......

When students at the Dayton Regional STEM School would go outside for recess or an outdoor lesson, they had to sit on the ground. Alex Arehart, a sophomore at the school, noticed the lack of seating and other improvements that could be made to the fledgling campus. “I knew I wanted to do something for the school; it’s still a growing school, ” Alex says. “I wanted to play a role in that growth and create something that will benefit the students for years to come.” Alex approached the superintendent, proposing that his Eagle Scout project could help the school. The ......

We can never say it enough, but that won’t stop Scouts from trying: Thank you, essential workers. In an effort devised and executed by the Scouts themselves, Troop 394 of Interlachen, Fla. (North Florida Council), created homemade signs to thank essential workers in their community. “They have to work so hard during this pandemic and risk their safety when it may not even be their choice, ” says Kelly Myers, Troop 394’s senior patrol leader. “I strongly believe it’s important to thank them for their hard work and support them during this time. A simple thank you can go a ......

After filming the video I talked with the owner and made a deal to purchase the items. Turns out all this stuff belonged to his father who was very active in the 1960s including going to the 1969 Jamboree. His dad was a Vigil Honor member of Thunderbird Lodge in North Dakota. I found out after talking to the family that everything in this video was from the collection of a lifelong Scouter living in North Dakota. He was very active during the 1960s and served as the Jamboree Scoutmaster in 1969. During his career in Scouting he was awarded the highest awards on the local level including the Silver Beaver and in the OA he was a Vigil Honor member. In the video you will see evidence of someone being active in the 1990s including attending the 1993 Jamboree. The family believes that came from one of ......

I just recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout while already having 53 merit badges by 14 years old. I know I want to go for Vigil in Order or the Arrow but I’m thinking about going for all 137 merit badges. Should I go for it? submitted by /u/Superbros194 [link] [comments]...

Every bit of history regarding pandemics suggests that this Sept through December will be quite bad for COVID-19 cases. I'm thinking about planning the 2020-2021 scouting year around the likelihood that states will roll back their community meeting restrictions or even if they don't, parents will be too risk-averse to attend indoor pack meetings. Traditionally, our pack would meet once per month and hand our awards. Moving forward, I'd like to replace that pack meeting style with one that is centered around outdoor, social distancing friendly activities that the kids can participate in as a pack. Some complications ......
