Pinata

Mexican Christmas festivities have the longest duration in the world. They start on December
12th and end on January 6th with the arrival of the Three Wise Men to give their gifts. There
are over 30 traditions only found within Mexican Christmas. [Source:
wikipedia.org] One of these is the Piñata. They can be made by the Cub
Scouts, or purchasing one is also an option. They can be filled with
candy or small, lightweight toys or gifts. The piñata is hung up on a
rope, or held on the end of a pole. Some type of hitting device is used
(a stick, small pole, or similar shaped object). The boy doing the hitting
is blindfolded and turned around 3 times and then pointed in the
direction of the piñata. He gets 1 or 2 swings at it. (Be sure the other
children stay back). To make it difficult have someone move the rope
holding the piñata up and down. When the piñata breaks the children
race to pick up what has fallen out.
