TURKISH DELIGHT

This is Edmund's favorite candy in The Lion,
The Witch, and The Wardrobe, By C. S.
Lewis. Read an excerpt from the book while
munching on this wonderful treat.

6 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1/2 cup chopped pistachios, walnuts, or
hazelnuts (opt.)
1 tablespoon orange flower water (opt) food
coloring (opt.)
Confectioners' sugar
Heat the water and juices in a non-metallic
saucepan. Stir in the gelatin, one packet at a
time. Cook over medium heat for four
minutes, then add the sugar and zests. Bring
the mixture to a boil, then simmer, stirring
occasionally, for twenty minutes. Add the

BROILED CINNAMON TOAST

A great breakfast-in-bed for mom on
Mother's Day. And not too bad for an after
school snack either.
1/3 cup (6 tbsp.) softened butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
4 slices bread
Mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Add
to the butter and blend. Spread generously
on bread and broil for 3-4 minutes until crisp.

MONSTER TOAST

Prepare 4 Small cups with 2 Tbsp. milk in
each. Add at least 3 drops of food coloring to
each. You will want it to be very bright.
Using a paintbrush, paint a monster face on
a piece of white bread. Toast it in the toaster
and butter lightly. Munch.
