Welcome Scouters, as we all know, Scouts love to play games, so here is one from my archives called “Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.” I bet even boy scouts will enjoy this one. Here is how its played.

The scout’s sit in a circle with one Cub in the center holding the bean bag. He throws the bag at someone and shouts ‘Earth !’, ‘Water!’, ‘Air!’ or ‘Fire!’. If it is ‘Earth,’ the chosen Cub must reply with the name of an animal, before the center Cub counts to ten. If it is ‘Water,’ he must think of a fish, if ‘Air’ - a bird and if ‘Fire’ - whistle for the Fire Engine. Note: Once a creature has been named, it may not be called again. If the Cub can not reply in time, he changes places with the thrower.

With that said, may we kindly ask that you help support InsaneScouter, to preserve our chain of fantastic resources? By request of many, we now offer patreon.com/insanescouter

Courtesy of the 007 Museum (thanks!) I am a fan...no, I am "ga-ga" over Captain James Bond, formerly Commander James Bond, otherwise known as "double knot seven" (007), one of a few who have a  legal "license to kill."  A few people have played this role, among them my "best" Bond, the actor Pierce Brosnan ("Remington Steele" if you recall how he got to be "James Bond"...), shown in the above image on the left.Even fewer played the expert creator and armorer of Bond and the other agents working in MI-6, the arm of the British Secret Service, which dispatches people to ......

This BSA camp was one that was recommended to us by our readers. Camp Naish consists of 900 acres owned by the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America. This land consists of several rolling hills, rising up to 400 feet above the Kaw River valley nearby. Three hills on Camp Naish rise more than 1, 000 feet above sea level and are the highest in Wyandotte County. The hills at Naish are mostly covered in a dense sub-climax oak/hickory forest, with an elm and dogwood understory. The camp also contains several meadows of varying sizes, mostly in areas ......

Stock photo from Photobucket I have an officemate, several years older than me. Jere Matty is a retired Air Force pilot, engineer, and currently, the "one who teaches" our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (or STEM) lab and center at Arnold Air Force Base.  Since both are interested in the same things -- getting young people to explore opportunities here at Arnold -- we frequently exchange notes, resources and information. After all, that's what officemates do. Besides, both of us love Lego(TM), and we have several Lego(TM) pieces around our corners of the office suite. He shared with me a recent visit to ......

Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be part of a medical trauma unit working in an emergency room? What about being an automation engineer at a cereal factory? What about getting to see firsthand what it's like to be a fireman who is going to respond to a blazing fire somewhere in your city? We thought it would be useful to you to provide a list of potential field trips that you could take your Scouts on. One of the Scout themes for a month is “When I Grow Up.” You could use this information ......

Screenshot from my copy of Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" video A lot of what's posted on Facebook(TM) comes and goes several times a year.  Those who use and follow others over there know that for the last, um, several weeks or more, various "friends of yours" have asked aloud:"You're kidnapped, and before they hide you somewhere, you have the opportunity to call ONE (television show, action-adventure actor or team, or other celebrity) to rescue you. Who would you call (and why them, him or her)?"(in the business world, a suitable equal question would be something like "okay, you're being sued, and ......

A long explanation to demonstrate why I -- and many other people involved in Scouting -- wear what seems like uniform shirts better fitting for third world dictators and military chiefs than those of volunteers or professionals interested in helping your family have a great Scouting experience.    (Illustration of what I'm talking about) The last time I was in Iraq, I suffered a serious eye injury. The year I was there, there were two really big dust storms which came up, one in which several other people and I were caught off-guard and were not provided immediate shelter and eye protection.  As a result, ......

Nick Davis was given several awards on Saturday afternoon in recognition for his life-saving actions this spring. Davis is a 13-year-old Boy Scout with Troop 1193 out of Ludington and a middle schooler at Mason County Central in Scottville. A small crowd of family, law enforcement, Boy Scout leaders and military veterans gathered in a log cabin at the American Legion’s Wilwin Lodge located in Custer to honor Davis. Scoutmaster Todd Fessenden recounted to the group Davis’ bravery on April 18, when he noticed his mother Jessica Dickenson was showing signs of a stroke. “He ......

This collection might be a first! The guy who agreed to send it to me has actually watched many of my unboxing videos. In fact we talked a little about how I would present it here and I think the way he packaged it showed an extra level of care. Turns out his dad actually earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1932. But the bulk of the collection is from his dad's time as a leader in the 1950's-70s (Silver Beaver 1972) and his personal time in Scouts while living in Illinois. Turns ......

Anyone else can feel free to answer this too with your opinion and experience, I just wanted to get a specific perspective of what girls were going through in this, as an SPL working on some troop restructuring. submitted by /u/NorthwardStars [link] [comments]...
