CUB SCOUT SKITS & STORYTELLING/05-10

SKIT --- THE AIRPLANE

7 Scouts – Pilot, Co-pilot, and Radioman on an airliner. 4 other Scouts are
the Engines on the wings of the plane. The Pilot announces to the Co-pilot that
Engine One has failed. Engine One (ham this up) sputters, makes noise, and
dies. Co-pilot instructs Radioman to inform tower and tell them they will be
arriving 15 minutes late (Radioman radios tower and repeats message). Soon
after Engine Two fails, repeat the process again but this time tell the tower they will be 30
minutes late. Then Engine Three dies and with more panic tells the tower we will be 1 hour late.
Finally, the Pilot announces the Fourth and final engine has failed. The Radioman then says,
"Boys I'd better radio the tower, we may be up here all day!"

SKIT --- THE FIRE AT JORDAN LANDINGS

TV reporter—Today we are here at Salt Lake Firestation #7
to speak to Chief Nofires and his assistant Lt. Nosmoke.
They managed to put out the fire at Jordan Landings. Chief can you give some fire safety
tips to our listeners at home?
Chief—Yes. Don’t smoke in bed. Don’t store extra gasoline in your car or home. Don’t let
children play with matches or lighters.
Lt. Nosmoke—Also, every family should practice an escape route to get out of the house just in
case you have a house fire.
TV reporter—How did you manage to put out that fire yesterday?
Extinguisher, Hydrant, and Engines—We helped, we helped!
Extinguisher—I used my strong chemicals on the fire.
Hydrant—I supplied the water to the fire hoses to put out the fire. Please tell people not to park
near me. Yesterday the fireman almost didn’t see me because a green van was parked in
front of me.
Engine #1—We carried 10 firefighters and their equipment to the fire!
Engine #2—Our ladders got the hoses up to the 2nd floor and we rescued a man from up there.
Engine #1—Did you know some drivers didn’t get out of the way when we were hurrying down
State Street?
Engine #2—A few more seconds and the fire would have had a chance
to really get going because of it.
Reporter—Chief, do you have anything else to say to our listeners?
Chief—You can prevent most fires.
Reporter—This is your roving TV reporter signing off for Channel 7.
