All you need to play this game is 8 or more
people, an old sock tied up in knots and some
open space with marked boundaries.
To start the game, everyone gathers in the center and
one person throws the sock high into the air.
You now have to decide whether you want to
stay and try to catch it as it comes down or
run away. Whoever catches the sock quickly
throws it and tries to hit someone.
The person with the ball can either throw the sock as
soon as they get it or take up to two steps and
throw it. Those who have the sock thrown at
them have two options, dodge the throw or
try to catch it. If you are hit, you are out and
sit out of bounds until the next game.
If you catch the sock, the person who threw it is out.
Once a thrown sock hits the ground, it can be picked up by someone and thrown again, so be aware.
If by rare chance, the sock hits one
person and bounces up, and you catch it before
it hits the ground, both the person hit and the
person throwing are out. The game should be
fast-moving, so no one is out of the game long.
Sometimes the game slows down when only
a few are still left in the game. Narrowing the
boundaries solves the problem. The winner
throws the sock up to start the next game.
