WackyScouter is still moving along, but real life has been doing that thing where it makes the patrol box throw up its contents and then asks why the spoons are not put away and organized yet.
Both of my A/C units decided to die as the weather climbed into the high 90s and over 100 for a few days. The bedroom unit is handled, thankfully, but the living room one is still being sorted out more than a week later.
I have been hiring a new developer or two after letting one go, which is now done, but still means training, onboarding, and a bit of “eep, I have not written that up, yet.”
On top of that, client work has been loud lately. One client seems to need things three days before they ask for them, and I have several other projects all wobbling around the table.
Not to mention, I am also still working on getting the house back together after having a single mom and her young son stay with me for 11 months, which was a good thing, but still left plenty of sorting, cleaning, and resetting behind. Especially given my neurodivergent needs for things to be a certain way.
For WackyScouter, I still need to trace why some feed sources are not being saved correctly for the newsletter and social sharing. There is also USScouts.org board meeting in about a week, and website work to be done.
Mix all this with the joy of dealing with government and insurance systems while trying to find support, and well, let’s just say the paperwork goblins have been fed the best I can, but their hoops are beating me down toward giving up when I really do need their help.
None of this is meant as an excuse or a dramatic thundercloud. More just a real-life note from behind the scenes. Some weeks the work is polished and visible. Other weeks it is more like keeping the fire alive while chasing raccoons, or is it the always hungry scouts, away from the cooler.
So if things are a little slower or wobblier than usual, that is why. I am still here, still working, still trying to share useful Scouting resources, and still grateful for everyone who reads, shares, supports, or simply hangs around this strange little campfire.
