This BSA camp was one that was recommended to us by our readers. Camp Naish consists of 900 acres owned by the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America. This land consists of several rolling hills, rising up to 400 feet above the Kaw River valley nearby. Three hills on Camp Naish rise more than 1, 000 feet above sea level and are the highest in Wyandotte County. The hills at Naish are mostly covered in a dense sub-climax oak/hickory forest, with an elm and dogwood understory. The camp also contains several meadows of varying sizes, mostly in areas ......

Have you met Chuck? If you haven’t, you will. Charles “Chuck” Brasfeild is the new Denver Area Council Scout Executive/CEO. In the few short weeks since Chuck started at the DAC he has already made quite an impression and met with the majority of the DAC’s staff and leadership. And he is just getting started. “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. If I am here to take the Council to the next level it is important that I know the players. If ......

Every Scouting journey is unique. A group of Scouts can go to the same meetings, enjoy the same camping trips and even earn the Eagle Scout Award at the same time, and still, each young person will take away something different. That was certainly the case with Troop 746 of Newport Beach, Calif., part of the BSA’s Orange County Council. Earlier this year, six young men from Troop 746 — five of them cousins! — became Eagle Scouts at the same court of honor. (The ceremony was held more than a month before the coronavirus began its spread across the ......

All this week my family has been vacationing at Fripp Island in South Carolina. During the downtime, I’ve actually spent some time solving a few problems I’ve had with the business.  My wife has even given me some counsel since she edits small business stories as part of her role as a Senior Editor for a large online finance company.  Nothing groundbreaking but sometimes you seem to think more clearly when you staring out at a salt marsh rather than locked in an office.  Read more on Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter June 19, 2020… ......

Everyone seems to have their favorite music playlists these days. They could be on your mp3 player but chances are you have them on your mobile phone. I do. Too many of them in fact. But you never know what kind of music you will be in the mood to listen to so you need to have several playlists from which to choose. One playlist on my phone is labeled Scouting Songs. It only has nine songs in it but all the songs are Scouting related. It is a fun list to listen to when I am ......

I saw on Facebook where Tom Price and Todd Rogers had published a nice book on collecting Western PA conclaves.  My experience has been that having niche books like this is what can power the hobby.  When you have a beautifully laid out checklist and pictures it kinds excites the collector in all of us. I'm busy trying to clean up years of neglect and false information in my unit/district. Recently, fundraising has come to the forefront. Researching, I found the following: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says if you are going to raise money as a nonprofit group, the group must benefit from the money you raise. So, if one Scout sells $500 of popcorn in your unit sale and another Scout sells $100 in your unit sale, both Scouts must benefit equally. That may sound a little backward but that is the general definition of the IRS’ policy concerning what’s called an ......

I was assigned with planning a summer fun Zoom session but I have no idea what to do and I am stumped. The activity doesn't have to be completely Scout related but it has to be within reasonable enough manners for the game/activity. So any help with ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks submitted by /u/TheoH32 [link] [comments]...
