At Girl Guides, we love a good parade. Even better – when the parade is all about positivity and inclusivity. From the Yukon to Saskatchewan and beyond, Girl Guides are participating in Pride month celebrations big and small across the country. Our goal – to be loud and proud in showcasing Guiding as a safe and welcoming space for the 2S-LGBTQI+ community. Here’s a look at how Girl Guides are celebrating and what some of our members have to say about what it means to see Guiding at Pride events: “Having Girl Guides ......
A remarkable 15 Eagle Scouts from a single troop graduated high school together last month, carrying Scouting’s proven mix of hands-on leadership training and character development with them into the next chapter of life. The Scouts — 14 of whom are pictured above — are members of Troop 501 of Medina, Ohio, part of the BSA’s Great Trail Council. So how did this happen? In an age of endless extracurricular options and a high-pressure high school environment, how did every last one of Troop 501’s seniors reach his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout? It’s all about the Eagle coach, ......

Fox needed a hero, and so the TV network took the most logical action. It called on an Eagle Scout. For the premiere of the new game show Spin the Wheel, Fox selected a contestant they knew home viewers would root for. Someone with a story so compelling that you couldn’t help but want that person to win heaps of cash. They selected Daniel Konzelman, an Eagle Scout from Troop 604 of Eatonville, Wash., part of the Pacific Harbors Council. Daniel appeared in the June 20 pilot episode of Spin the Wheel, and his status as an Eagle Scout was announced ......
My son Patrick is also in camp with us this week. Yesterday he carved a fox totem with his pocket knife, went swimming with his sister during free swim and out on a paddle board with dad after supper. I’d say that’s a good day in camp! Sometimes a new family might come in with a little bit of anxiety—maybe they’re not exactly sure what they’ve gotten themselves into—and it’s important that we make them comfortable. These new parents are future Cubmasters or den leaders or even just good resources for your den or pack. It’s important that we make them feel comfortable and actually glad that they’ve joined the Cub Scouting family. Joining us is Winnie Lee of Pack 681 in the San Diego-Imperial Council’s Rancho Mesa District. As she tells us – it all begins with welcoming the families. How do we do that? Let’s ......
