Games:

                                                                Rhyming Game
Ahead of time prepare slips of paper with different types of pets already printed on them. The
Cub giving the clue would give a rhyming word to help the other Cubs who are trying to guess
what the pet is. For example, they would start with a statement like this, "I'm thinking of a pet
that rhymes with carrot." The answer could be ferret or parrot depending on what was on the slip
of paper the boy had drawn.

                                                              Word Creation
How many words can be made from the phrases: "My favorite pet," "'Most unusual pet," or "My
pet's the best yet.”

Crafts:  

Pet Accessories
             Braided dog toy
                          3 lengths of rope 40" each
                          Tie the ends together using an overhand knot.
                          Braid to the ends leaving enough to tie off with
                          another overhand knot. Use to play tug-of-war.
              Variation: Braided cat toy.

                                                 

                                               Pet Portraits
                                                  Mosaics
                                                              Materials: Wood, corrugated boxes, masonite, tile
                                                              Box cutter or handsaws
                                                              Clear-drying white glue
                                                              Colored rocks for fish tanks
                                                              Variety of beans
                                                              Colored pasta
                                                              Colored and crushed eggshells
                                                              Using wood, corrugated box, masonite or tiles have the
                                                              boys draw or trace a picture of whatever the boy's pet is. Have the boys fill in their pet pictures
                                                              using the colored rocks, beans, colored pasta, or colored and crushed eggshells. Frame.

Puffy Paint Window Clings  
              Materials: White paper, pencils, clear plastic sandwich bags,
                               variety of colors of puffy paints
This will take 2 den meetings. For the first week have the boys draw their
pets no larger than the sandwich bag. Put the drawing inside the bag. Trace the picture with the
black paint on the sandwich bag. In the second week, have the boys paint inside the black lines
with the other colors making sure the paints touch the black lines.
