The Boy Scout conservation program's emphasis is to incorporate throughout the Scouting Program and activities an awareness and understanding of conservation as wise and intelligent management of natural resources. The development of good citizens is one of Scouting's aims, and citizenship needs to practice sound environmental living and conservation of natural resources.
The conservation program focus on making all involved in the Scouting - youth, adult members, and family members - aware of their responsibility for the future. There is an increasing awareness that Scouting members are an integral part of the environment and that their actions or inactions affect the quality of life throughout this nation and the world.
These aims are met through knowledge taught at the unit level, and through activities such as service projects. There are awards that scouts can earn for outstanding conservation and environmental awareness.
