The narrator walks to the center of the stage and says that he would now like to present to his audience that historical event, Napoleon's last farewell to his troops, after his defeat at the battle of waterloo. He builds up the atmosphere by asking his audience to imagine these thousands of soldiers, weary from days of fighting, etc. When this has been built up enough, the narrator sticks his right hand, under the left breast of his jacket, walks forward, and says, " FAREWELL TROOPS".
