Holiday Sweets

Many Christmas treats can be made with chocolate kisses and peanut butter cups. Come
visit us and see the Candy Cane Reindeer, the Candy Tree, the Candy Star, and Candy
Rudolph.

  Graham Cracker House

Put 7 graham crackers together to form the house. Using the Royal Icing as glue,
create and decorate this cute little house. Check out our creations at our table.

Royal Icing

Whip 3 egg whites, add 1 lb. powdered sugar, and ½ tsp. Cream of tartar, food
coloring (optional.) on high speed for 7-10 minutes. Keep covered to prevent
drying. Cannot re-whip.

Fragrant Cinnamon Ornaments

Mix 1 cup applesauce, ¼ cup white glue, 1 ½ cups cinnamon with your hands, to
form a dough similar to cookie dough. If it is too stiff, add a little applesauce, if too
thin, add cinnamon. Roll out the dough until it is 1/8 to Y4 inch thick. Use large
cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Use a straw to punch out a hole for hanging. You
can let them air dry for a couple of days or, place them on a cookie sheet...in a 150-degree oven
or lowest setting for two hours. Turn shapes over every once in a while to prevent curling. Turn
off the oven and leave in sheet for 5-6 hours...until dry. Tie a ribbon or yam through the hole, use it as an
ornament or tie on packages to decorate.

Candy Wreath

Using heavy wire or a clothes hanger, form a circle 10" to 12" in diameter. Attach wrapped
candies at the end of each candy with string or wire, to the wire ring. Continue to attach until the
entire ring is covered. Add a bow and a pair of scissors so pieces of candy can be cut off and
eaten.

Christmas Mice

For each mouse: Maraschino Cherry with stem, 1 chocolate kiss,
unwrapped, dipping chocolate, 2 peanut halves, 3 silver candy balls
(dragees). Melt a small amount of chocolate in the microwave. Dip the cherry into
chocolate by holding the stem. Place on waxed paper. Quickly stick
the unwrapped flat end of the kiss onto the end of the cherry. Place silver candies for eyes
and nose. Use a small amount of chocolate to adhere peanut halves between
cherry and kiss, to make the ears. Cool in the frig.
