Sweet Domes

Any size clear jar with a snug-fitting lid
Small toys or figurine
Corn syrup
Glitter or plastic confetti
Shells, pipe cleaners, or other decorations for the base
Tacky or hot glue

Pick a jar large enough to hold all the objects you wish to put inside. Glue the
objects to the inside of the jar lid, and let dry overnight. Be careful not to glue too
close to the edge, or the jar won't close. Fill the jar with half water and half corn
syrup. The more corn syrup you use, the thicker the solution will be. Stir the
mixture together until the corn syrup dissolves. Sprinkle a teaspoon or two of
confetti or glitter into the jar. Screw the lid on tightly, and turn the jar upside down.
Dry off the jar, and fill the little area around the cap with a layer of glue to form a
water-tight seal. You can give your dome a higher base by gluing it on top of
another lid. When dry, decorate the base with some fun stuff, such as shells, plastic
leaves, ribbons, or pipe cleaners.

Ship Shape Boat

Plastic detergent bottle
White construction paper
Clear packing tape
Plastic drinking straw
Modeling clay
Permanent markers
Tacky or hot glue

Cut the top part off the bottle about 2 or 3 inches from the bottom. The bottom part
will become the boat. Cut the neck ring from the top of the bottle. Glue the ring in
the center of the bottom of the boat. Let dry. Cut a sail from white paper. Cover
both sides of the sail with clear packing tape to make it waterproof. Glue the sail to
the straw. Let dry. Press some clay into the neck ring. Press the bottom end of the
straw into the clay to mount the sail. Add decorations using permanent markers
and your imagination.
