This BSA camp was one that was recommended to us by our readers. Camp Turrel is located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. With easy access to the Delaware River and other local attractions, Camp Turrell is perfectly located to offer a well-rounded challenge second to none, for Scouts BSA Troops, Venture Crews, and Sea Scout Ships. And with excellent sailing on a 95-acre lake and extensive mountain biking trails, Camp Turrell offers a great program on the trails and rivers as well as in camp.

Summertime temperatures in the area generally rise to near 80 degrees and fall into the upper 50s at night. Wintertime high temperatures average in the upper 20s by day and fall into the teens at night. All units camping at Turrell are issued cots and housed in two-man canvas tents on wooden platforms. Each campsite is equipped with a latrine, washbasin, and running water. Most meals will be prepared by the food service staff in the dining hall unless the patrol cooking option is elected.
The camp features many miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, a waterfall, a 90-acre lake, Scouting program areas, a health lodge, dining hall/commissary, and an administration building (Peterson Lodge). This last summer, the camp has been made even better with the addition of a brand new, 3-stage zipline for thrill-seekers. Project Soaring Eagle will run during week 5 for Scouts committed to completing their Eagle requirements. Additionally, the camp will host provisional campers during week 5 for any Scouts interested in attending without their home troops. The camp continues to offer many opportunities for Scouts of all ages and ranks in camp, including the Pathfinder program for those just beginning their summer camp Scouting experiences. The Dining Hall is one of the favorite areas; a place that makes a rainy day a minor occurrence. At Camp Turrell, the aim is to provide Scouters with a quality dining experience from the food to the program.
The cost of the camp is $415 if paid by 4-15-20 and $460 if paid after that. Leaders pay $135. There is one week of camping each season set aside to be used by Provisional Scouters. The cost for that week is $460 if paid before 4-15-20 and $510 if paid after. There are 49 merit badge workshops and 10 merit badge activities offered at this camp.
