This was posted on a Scouting mailing list and I thought some of you might be interested in this event.
Scouting's National Championship Canoe Race will be held this July 27-30 in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. Come and join us for one of scouting's most unique and challenging events. Each year teams from across the country test themselves and the White River over 3 days and 120 miles. The race is open to all scouts ages 14 to 21, male or female, experienced or novice. Each finisher of the race will receive an award and trophies are given to the top three finishers in each class. For a very reasonable $35 entry fee, each scout or paying adult/advisor receives a race t-shirt, four evening meals, free camping in nicely equipped parks, a race patch, and chances for door prizes. The event is more than just a race though as there are activities for everyone and memories that will last a lifetime. Teams from Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, and Arkansas are expected this year. Canoes, paddles and life vests are available for loan for new teams. Contact the Event Chairman or Race Director for more details at www.scoutrace.com If you register on-line by July 1, you can save $5 per scout. See you in July!
If you know of any events coming up that I could share with other Scouters please send me an email with a write similar to above.... Thanks!
