White Chile Recipe

By: Posted On: 2011-04-28

My friends mom makes this awesome White Chile Dish. Everytime she makes it she gives me a bowl of it. I asked her for the recipe and permission to share it, which I got. Please enjoy the following.

Ingredients

2 1/2 lbs    Ground Turkey  (Lean 93/7)

28 oz         Chicken Broth          (low fat/low sodium/no MSG)

2                 Medium Onions       (Diced)

4 15 oz      Cans Cannellini Beans, Great Northern or Combo of Both

2  tsp.        Cumin

1  tsp.        Sweet Paprika

1  tsp.        Chili Powder

1  tsp.        Oregano  (Greek if available)

1  tsp.        Garlic Powder

1/2 tsp.      Tumeric, Cloves, Cinnamon

1/4 tsp.      White Pepper

2 TBL.       Fresh Cilantro  (Minced)

Directions

Brown turkey  and drain in colander.

Saute diced onions in olive oil with paprika until soft.

Combine turkey, onions and "strained" beans in stockpot.

Add chicken broth and mix. Add all other ingredients and mix.

Cover and cook on "Simmer" for approx. 3 hours until flavors meld, stirring occasionally.

Notes:

You will note the lack of 'salt' in the ingredients.  That is 'not' an omission.   If you wish, salt to taste towards end of cooking. Taste and adjust flavors during cooking (I generally add more Cloves and Cinnamon) Also good is mixture of turkey and lamb.
